FAQ's
What was the approval process?
Membership price changes are determined as part of Hume City Council’s annual budget process. Part of this process includes community consultation, so residents can view the proposed budget and provide any feedback before it’s formally approved and adopted for the incoming financial year.
Why are membership prices increasing?
The cost of running our centres has gone up – things like cleaning, power, staff and repairs. We need to increase prices to help cover these costs and keep everything running well.
Are we still getting a good deal?
Yes. Even with this price rise, our membership fees are still lower than many other places like us.
Why raise prices when there are issues with the facilities that need fixing?
We know some things still need work. That's exactly why we need to raise prices – to help keep our facilities clean, safe and open. It’s a necessary step to ensure we can continue to provide a high standard of service.
What’s happening with entry and hire fees? Will they rise too?
Entry and hire fees remain at a 3% increase, consistent with previous years.
What about Active Program pricing?
Prices for Active programs will also go up by 3% from Tuesday, 8 July. These prices will now follow the financial year (July to June) for greater consistency.
What about Upfront membership pricing and visit passes?
Prices for direct debit will increase from 8th July, in line with majority of direct debit cycles. Upfront memberships will increase from 1 July, in line with all other upfront costs such as Multi visit passes. These prices will now follow the financial year (July to June) for greater consistency.
What improvements are being made for members?
We're committed to reinvesting in our facilities and programs. Upcoming improvements include:
- 24/7 access at Sunbury and Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centres
- An Active Living Plan to improve the health and well-being of our community by encouraging physical activity and active lifestyles
- Keeping the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre outdoor 50m pool open in winter
- More group fitness classes Member gates to make it quicker and easier to get in
- New gym equipment at Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre
