Sunbury 50m Outdoor Pool
Temporary Closure Tuesday 22 April 2025
The outdoor 50m pool will close from Tuesday 22 April to August 2025 for essential painting and safety works. Following this, the Winter Operations Trial will resume with the pool reopening in August.
Two-Year Winter Operations Trial
Following the completion of these works, the two-year winter operations trial will recommence, with the 50m pool scheduled to reopen under this model in August 2025.
These hours are not impacted by temperature forecast or school holidays.

Summer Season
The Winter season will continue through until Friday 31 October 2025, with the summer season to commence Saturday 1 November 2025. Operating hours of the 50m pool, intermediate pool and Water Play to be confirmed leading up to this season opening. Operating hours of all outdoor pools and the Water Play Area to be confirmed for the summer season commencing Saturday 1 November 2025.

Why was the pool not painted during last year’s closure?
Due to unavailability of contractors, works could not be conducted without impacting the summer season period.
Will the two-year winter operations trial still occur?
Yes. Following completion of the painting works, the 50m pool will re-open under the two-year Winter Operations trial.The outdoor pool will remain open through winter 2025 and 2026 for the trial of morning lap swimming.
When will the pool reopen?

Water Play Area
Families in Sunbury will enjoy a new outdoor space and water play area including safer access, seating, water features and water play equipment from 1 November 2025
We are replacing the ageing outdoor toddler pool space with a new water play area and outdoor space.
The zero-depth attraction includes a soft fall surface, slides, a tipping bucket, spray loops, an aqua dome, jets, fountains, funnels, spray features and covered by shade sails. The project also includes the improvement for accessibility to the outdoor pool space with ramps and removal of steps between pools.
The water features included in the final design of the new outdoor water play area was developed using the community selections made via Participate Hume.
