Adventure Activity Guidelines for swimming and water-based activities

Below are the education departments guidelines that apply to instructional swimming programs, lifesaving programs and recreational activities. These guidelines must be followed when the main activity is swimming.

The purpose of the below policy is to ensure that all school swimming and water safety programs meet the Victorian Curriculum F–10 and provide students with the knowledge and confidence to participate in aquatic activities.

Since 2017, the Victorian Curriculum F–10 (Version 1.0) has required swimming and water safety to be taught to all students from Foundation to Level 10 as part of the Health and Physical Education learning area

This policy also covers

  • Funding
  • Child safety standards

Additional funding may be available to assist in purchasing swim wear for families in need
